Train to become a Paddle NSW Whitewater Canoe or Kayak Guide or Instructor and get the qualifications you need to do fulfilling work on the rivers you love.

This is just the Whitewater guide course
It can be completed in a canoe or a kayak (or both)
Give yourself some time between the course and assessment to develop skills and log more river hours by joining our September guide course and completing the assessment in october, or join us for the course, rescue and assessment in all in one block in October

Assessment:

  • Practical: Completed through the training/assessment day
  • Quiz: An online quiz is made available to participants upon registration that needs to be completed prior to the practical program
  • Project: An online project is made available to participants upon registration that needs to be completed prior to the practical program
*Location will be confirmed prior to the event after we have assessed river conditions and recent rainfall
Will be hosted on a section of the Clarence Canoe & Kayak Trail

Description

Train to become a Paddle NSW Whitewater Canoe or Kayak Guide/Instructor and get the qualifications you need to do fulfilling work on the rivers you love.

This course involves just the training component of the Whitewater Guide Course. You will need to either book the complete package or the rescue and assessment components separately.

We are delivering two Guide/Instructor Trainings
6-7th September
OR
9-10th October
Also included is canoe, lifejacket and helmet hire/transport for the 2 days of the course. If you would like to byo lifejacket and helmet please do, and if you want to complete your kayak qualification as well, kayaks, can be hired from us through our website or you can bring your own.

50 paddle NSW course hosting fee

It is highly recommended that you also complete the:
Whitewater Rescue Course 11-12th Oct
Guide/Instructor Assessment 13-14th October

Upon successful assessment you will be encouraged to register with Paddle Australia for three years as a guide/Instructor and this is renewable every 3 years. Prices for membership are detailed on their website.

If you want to stay nearby/on-site during the course, you will need to book camping or accommodation at at either the Clarence River Wilderness Lodge, the Nymboida Camping & Canoe Centre or The Gorge station, once the course location has been confirmed.
